Skill Development to empower girls

BECT has started a new program to empower young students by providing ā€˜Skilll trainingā€ in collaboration with Rotary Pinnacle. 32 students of Govt. H.S.S. Vaishali Nagar are participating in learning new employable skills.

We are offering them free fashion designing and beauty parlor courses with the help of our skilling partner Phoenix Institute Fashion, Arts & Media.

Teacher’s Training

We want to focus on improving the quality of education to match the world standard and therefore BECT organized Online and Offline Teacher’s Training Workshop and provided intensive trainings to the 35 Teachers of Azad H.S.School, BSP Bhilai Ispat Vikas Vidhyalaya Sector-6 and Khurshipar.

Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship Programme

In 2014, BECT found its first talent in Ms Zoya, She was BECT’s unanimous choice for the one-time monetary award of Rs 100000.

In 2015, our purse size had almost quadrupled and justifiably we became more ambitious. We were able to spot 14 deserving students, not just in academics, but also in the field of sports and extra-curricular activities. Each was awarded a trophy, a certificate and Rs 25000 in cash.

In 2016, BECT identified 13 students on Merit Basis. It was decided to award Rs 100000 (Rupees one lakh only) each to three of them and Rs 50000 (Rupees Fifty thousand only) to the other ten. In addition, all 13 were presented with a certificate and a trophy.

Free JEE NEET Coaching Programme

This program is an initiative taken in preparing the students with caliber and potential for excelling in engineering and medical fields. Our mission is to provide the right direction and wind beneath the wings that are ready to fly.

These students from BPL backgrounds are selected through a screening test for an intensive training provided in our centers for NEET and JEE.

Padhna Likhna Abhiyan

From misery to literacy!

Bhilai Education Charitable Trust (BECT) participated in ”Padhna likhna Abhiyan’ (PLA).  Itā€™s a programme by the Department of School Education & Literacy Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The principle target of the programme is to impart functional literacy to the non-literate and non-numerate adults across the country in the age group of 15 years and above.

With our Volunteers we identified 400 + non-literates through door-to-door survey and after that We imparted functional literacy of about 120 hour to these non-literate and non-numerate adults in across the Bhilai-Durg twin city.

Free Spoken English Coaching

ā€œ If one wants to learn, then language canā€™t be a barrierā€
BECT is determined to help students to learn and be ready for the dynamic world. Students who belong to Hindi Medium Schools and un-advanced backgrounds find english language challenging. Thus we realised a great need for the Spoken English classes.

This year BECT has pledged to provide Spoken English classes for free and online to 200 students. For the same purpose we have a contract with Dev Spoken English Classes, New Civic Center Bhilai.

Donated computers & helped in setting up computer lab

A big thank you to “Friends of BECT” for their generosity and compassionate hearts towards the weaker section of society.

We are blessed to have friends who came forward in donating generously towards the “Computer Donation Drive”.

BECT donated six computers to Azad Hind Higher Secondary School, Station Maroda. This  helped  the  School  to  establish  a  new  computer laboratory.

The students of Azad school are pretty excited and happy with their newly setup computer lab.

Free NTSE Coaching

BECT jointly with Sachdeva New P.T. College started provided Free NTSE Coaching to the students of class-10th at 170, New Civic Centre, Bhilai.

Total 120 students joined, these students are from various Schools of Bhilai -Durg.

This NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) coaching program is meant for the students in Class 10 who want to try out for scholarships offered from Class XI up to doctoral level. This coaching program helps students clear their concepts right from the beginning and lay a strong foundation for future academic or professional courses students may want to pursue later.

Imparting Free Computer Education

Computers play a vital role in every field. And with an aim to impart digital literacy to the underprivileged sections of the society, Bhilai Education Charitable Trust (BECT) imparting computer Education to the underprivileged students.

More than 100 students from less privileged backgrounds have been the beneficiaries of BECT’s efforts to impart digital literacy by introducing them to computers and their many uses.

Digital Classroom

New age technology and upgraded learning systems are the need of the hour.

In 2019 BECT took up the responsibility of creating three digital classrooms. Two of these were in BSP Schools and one in Azad Hind Higher Secondary School, Maroda.

BECT transform School’s classrooms into digital rooms that enhance the learning process by involving more senses. Digital Classroom is a replacement of traditional classroom which helps the students in learning easily and more effectively.

Education to visually challenged people

Education is key to live with happiness and prosperity whether it’s about normal people or visually challenged people. It is important for the personal, social and economic development of the nation. Students with visual impairment all depend on their ability to listen to learn things, they may need help to develop skills for themselves to do tasks more efficiently. After all Speech is their primary mode of communication.

Here at BECT, we try to provide education to blind students also. Our volunteers get them up to speed in the studies and also helping them in improving and developing their communication skills.

Right To Education (RTE)

Although the Government has enunciated the Right to Education Act (RTE), there are many potential beneficiaries who do not know about it.  In 2019 BECT has been carrying out awareness campaigns in this regard, so that deserving children get admission in the various schools in Bhilai-Durg. So far, 30 parents have been provided support in the admission process resulting in 30 children getting school admission under RTE Act.

Voter Awareness Campaign

With an aim to increase the voting percentage in Bhilai, a voter awareness program was organised by Bhilai Education Charitable Trust (BECT).
